Fly Fishing

Michigan's Upper Peninsula has a storied fly fishing history and some amazing lakes and rivers. Rugged and wild, this place is a haven for low pressure streams and backcountry trout. From Hemingway to Robert Traver, the U.P. has drawn anglers for centuries.

The fishing around around Houghton, Marquette, and Munising is as good as it gets, whether you're looking for trout, bass or pike. Down Wind is well stocked with waders from Patagonia, rods from Scott and Sage, reels from Abel, and all of the Scientific Anger fly line, leaders and tippet you need for a day on the water. We also offer a full assortment of flies, some tied by local tiers. While we can't garauntee your success on the river, we certainly make sure you have the right equipment.
