EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT - Tosh Blosser
We are thrilled to introduce our new series of employee spotlights, designed to highlight and celebrate the incredible individuals who make Down Wind Sports thrive. Each edition will delve into the unique talents, interests and personal stories of our team members, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the diverse experiences and skills of our staff. Through this series, we aim to shine a light on the hard work and dedication of our employees, fostering a deeper sense of connection and appreciation within our workplace. Stay tuned as we embark on this journey to recognize and honor the exceptional contributions of our valued colleagues.
One of our long time employees, Tosh, has been part of the DWS Family for the past six years. He may hail from Downstate and he says “Don't hold it against me!, but trust me—I’m a Yooper at heart”. His life with the outdoors industry began in 2012, and have since bounced around the country, working at various outdoor retailers/companies/outfitters and indulging his love for adventure.
He has guided rafts down rivers in Tennessee, guided canoes through the wilds of Northern Ontario, and taught climbing at Planet Rock Climbing Gym. Oh, and he has scaled more rocks around the country than he cares to count! In 2013, he decided to tackle the Appalachian Trail (all of it!), and because that wasn’t quite enough, he thru-hiked the entire Pacific Crest Trail in 2015. If you’re wondering what he does when he is not on some absurdly long trek, you’ll probably find him paddling, climbing a cliff, skiing, or wandering the U.P. with his wife, Lauren, and their dogs Moose and Juniper.
When he is not helping folks find the perfect gear at Down Wind Sports, you’ll find him fully immersed in Michigan Ice Fest, where he manages the Pro Demo Room—basically, it’s gear heaven. His passion for the outdoors—and, let’s be honest, his borderline obsession with all the gear that goes with it—brings a unique skill set to the team at Down Wind.
